Psalm 56:1 New International Version: Be merciful to me, my God,
for my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack.

The world is aghast concerning the fierce attack on Ukraine. Not only are military persons being ambushed, but civilians are being bombarded.
Even though JESUS prepared us that there would be wars and rumors of wars in the last days, seeing mankind at war is a dismal sight.
Matthew 24:6-7 New International Version: You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
Many conflicts are prophesied to take place in the end times. But JESUS comforted us with the following words in John 16:33 New International Version: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
What Can We Do?
We can make monetary contributions to help the people of Ukraine to rebuild. But, as Christians, we also offer the miraculous response of prayer. Our prayer is first and foremost for the battered people of Ukraine. GOD can shield and cover the innocent. He can give strength where there is no strength. He is a hiding place in times of trouble and can create ways of escape. We call on the GOD of all comfort to heal their minds, their bodies, and their spirits, in JESUS’ name.
GOD deeply loves the people of Ukraine. These courageous people are often seen standing their ground and praising GOD in the face of uncertainty. They are amazing champions who have risen up in the most horrendous circumstance.

GOD also loves the people of Russia. We have been given a very challenging task: pray not only for those who are attacked, but also for their opponents. JESUS said in Matthew 5:44 New International Version: But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
In obedience to JESUS, we also pray for the people of Russia. Many of them reportedly don’t even know what their government is doing in these devastating assaults.
Our prayer is not for the attackers to prosper in their destructive deeds. We pray for the actual men and women, who are flesh and blood people needing salvation and guidance. It is reported that some Russian soldiers are against the conflict they are being forced to fight.
Luke 6:27-28 New International Version further emphasizes: “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you…”

Prayer for Ukraine
Father, GOD, we call on You, the GOD and protector of the oppressed. We ask You to put an end to the assault against Ukraine. Block the attacks of their enemy. Frustrate every strategy to destroy Ukraine. Make a way of escape for the innocent. Guard the children, guard the adults. Especially cover the wounded and sick with a hedge of protection, in JESUS’ name. This prayer does not seem realistic based on what we hear and see. But we walk by faith, not by sight. We come boldly before Your throne of grace, asking You for what seems impossible: peace in the midst of a growing tumult.
Cause every scheme of attack to be frustrated. Cause the motives of the enemy to come short of their goal, in JESUS’ name. Let approaching forces misread their maps, again. Let enemy troops lose ammunition, again. Let more fleeing families make it to safety. You have already been at work during this conflict. Show Yourself as Lord and GOD over the affairs of man. Help them find success at the bargaining table, in JESUS’ name.
Prayer for Russia
Father, we see that most Russian citizens are restricted from hearing details about the Ukraine invasion. Many who do know about it are disheartened. Some of them have been weeping in the streets, protesting, and even getting arrested. Others have risked their lives to say, “Enough!”. Hear the prayers of the Russian people, and from people all over the globe. Send comfort for their anguish. Give them strategies to get the attention of government officials.

Have mercy on the Russian people who will suffer the results of sanctions being imposed against them. They didn’t ask for the war but are victims of a crisis beyond their control. Send help and relief to them, Father of grace and mercy. Render justice for the protesters. Protect them from political brutality, in JESUS’ name.
Father GOD, officials can run from protestors, but they can’t run from You. Throughout history, You have used visions and dreams to reverse the trends of war. You have used wives, husbands and children of officials to jolt their decisions. How ever You choose to intervene, we call on You to move the hearts and minds of those in authority, in the name of JESUS CHRIST.
Cancel the plan that is trying to crush Ukraine into submission. Guide the outcome of every negotiation. Drive Russian officials into submission to a humane resolution. With man, this is impossible. But with You, nothing is impossible.
Amen.
