Romans 8:11 New Living Translation The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
The most talked about miracle in all of history is the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST. The explosive power that propelled Him from the realm of death into life is still in operation in the earth.
JESUS CHRIST is the Son of GOD who came to earth as flesh and blood. He came to take on the penalty of sin for all of mankind. His death took place by crucifixion. He was literally nailed to a wooden cross. He was cruelly fixed to the cross by having long nails pounded through his hands and his feet. He willingly shed His blood to atone for all our guilt.
JESUS CHRIST died a torturous death, in agony and pain. He had the power and authority to stop the crucifixion at any time. The Bible explains that He endured the cross for the joy that was set before Him. The joy was the redemption of all those who would accept Him. Redemption from sin and death.
Hebrews 12:2 Easy-to-Read Version: We must never stop looking to Jesus. He is the leader of our faith, and he is the one who makes our faith complete. He suffered death on a cross. But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing because of the joy he could see waiting for him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne.
Before the crucifixion took place, JESUS explained His commitment to us with this prayer to GOD in John 17:1-4 New International Version: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do…”
After 3 days in the grave, JESUS rose from the dead with all power in His hands. He triumphantly walked out of the tomb as our resurrected Lord and King. When He ascended into heaven, He asserted His rightful place as Master of all the universe.
Matthew 28:18 King James Version: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
The Power of the Resurrection Did Not End There
Resurrection power is still available to work in us, the followers of JESUS CHRIST. When we believe in Him and speak His Word, we can experience the miraculous in our own lives. We can intercede for miracles in the lives of others.
Ephesians 3:20-21 New International Version: Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
JESUS promised that extraordinary things would be done in us and by us, if we pray a prayer of faith in His name.
John 14:12-13 New International Version: Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Mark 16:17-18 New International Version: “… And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (For clarification, JESUS is not instructing people to voluntarily seek poisonous snakes to handle and taunt them. Some people have taken this verse out of context and actually tempt death by vexing deadly snakes as part of a misguided form of worship. In the days of JESUS, in untamed lands, people inadvertently came across dangerous snakes. Perilous conditions would cause people to come face to face with vipers that could kill them. JESUS was addressing this type of situation by promising to protect us. However, deliberately seeking out deadly snakes to tempt GOD’s favor is sinful. Matthew 4:7 New King James Version explains: Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not [a]tempt the Lord your God.’ “ The English Standard Version puts it this way: Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Likewise, JESUS is not instructing people to mix up deadly, poisonous drinks just to prove that GOD will not cause them to die.)
Miraculous Power Was Not Just For The Apostles, But Also For Us
Miraculous, compelling events were not just limited to the days JESUS and His Apostles walked the earth. His amazing presence is promised to continue with all of us until the end of time.
Matthew 28:20 New Living Translation: “…Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Notice He said to “be sure of this”. We can depend on it.
JESUS made it clear that His powerful prayers for the Apostles, were also for the Christians who would come after them in the future. JESUS’ prayers pertain to all of us.
John 17:20-21 New International Version: “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me…”
Father GOD, please cause everyone who will read this post to know that he or she is eligible to receive and walk in resurrection power. Your only requirements are that they receive JESUS CHRIST as Savior and that they speak, believe, and obey Your Word. Amen.
