Daily Feasting On The Word
Matthew 6:34 New King James Version: Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

In today’s world, there are so many troubling things to worry about. We are seeing unprecedented sorrow. There are continued effects from the covid pandemic, financial disasters, catastrophic weather occurrences, and pervasive violence. If not for JESUS CHRIST, we might completely despair.
But, we do have Him. JESUS CHRIST is still Lord. He still has overcome the world and can address all our concerns.
John 16:33 New King James Version: “…These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you [a]will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Matthew 28:18 King James Version: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Philippians 4:6-7 New American Standard Bible: Do not [a]be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all [b]comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Whether we are suffering from an injury, sickness, danger, or other disasters, JESUS is right there.
Psalm 46:1-2 New American Standard Bible: God is our refuge and strength, A [b]very ready help in [c]trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth shakes And the mountains slip into the heart of the [d]sea;
Whatever misery the world has to offer, our troubles cannot compare to the level of deliverance our GOD can bring to every situation.
Jeremiah 32:17 New King James Version: ‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too [a]hard for You…’
How to Tap Into This Wellspring of Comfort
JESUS laid out an easy set of instructions to live a life of peace in the midst of any storm. That is seeking Him and learning about Him through His Holy Word.
Matthew 11:28-29 New American Standard Bible: “Come to Me, all [a]who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find [b]rest for your souls…”
Psalm 9:10 New American Standard Bible: And [a]those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, Lord, have not abandoned those who seek You.
JESUS clearly intended that we come before Him every single day and gain His presence, guidance and protection. If we come to Him without fail, He is guaranteed to help us without fail.
Matthew 6:10-11 New American Standard Bible: [a]Your kingdom come. Your will be done, [b]On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day [c]our daily bread.
The daily bread JESUS refers to includes daily feasting on His WORD and following GOD.
When JESUS was tempted by our spiritual enemy, the devil, He made this clear. Matthew 4:3-4 New Living Translation: During that time the devil[a] came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]”
Further explanation is seen after JESUS ministered to the Samarian woman at the well. He taught His disciples about spiritual bread.
John 4:31-34 Easy-to-Read Version: While the woman was in town, Jesus’ followers were begging him, “Teacher, eat something!” But Jesus answered, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” So the followers asked themselves, “Did someone already bring him some food?” Jesus said, “My food is to do what the one who sent me wants me to do. My food is to finish the work that he gave me to do…”
Daily Bread Literally Means Daily
The human body needs food every day. Withholding food from a hungry person is an act of abuse and cruelty. GOD does not do that to us. He urges us to have a daily feast in His Word. After JESUS instructed the disciples to pray for ”daily bread”, He told stories to explain more about this bread. It includes receiving His Holy Spirit.
Luke 11:5-13 New International Version: Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity[a] he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[b] a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Unless we are on a fast or in dire circumstances, we would not willingly go without feeding our body or even keeping gas in the tank of our car – every single day.
People guard their gas tank from running out of gas. How much more should we guard our spirits from running out of GOD’s Word, which we need to operate freely in our lives. People fill their stomachs every single day. To the best of their ability, they protect themselves from physical hunger. The spirit in us, which is eternal, also needs to be replenished every day. Our spiritual reserves keep us in peace, keep us under the shadow of GOD’s wings, and keep us in tune with His voice. There is such joy, comfort, and confidence knowing we are living under the guardianship of the Lord GOD of all the universe.
Proverbs 15:14-15 New International Version: The discerning heart seeks knowledge,
but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly. All the days of the oppressed are wretched,
but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.
Father GOD, the world around us can be treacherous and discouraging. We can’t make it through a single day without Your protection and guidance. Please help us commit ourselves to seeking you daily. Your Word is a continual feast. Amen
